Abderazak M. Ali is a Somali American civic leader, author, mayoral candidate, and cultural thinker whose life journey—spanning refugee camps, international NGOs, and American political stages—embodies what he calls New American Energy: the unstoppable force of resilience, ambition, and human potential.
Born into struggle but shaped by possibility, Ali has lived and worked across the United States—from Alaska to California, New York to Nebraska, Kentucky to Minnesota—while remaining deeply connected to the Horn of Africa, the Middle East, and the global immigrant experience. Fluent in Somali, Arabic, Amharic, and English, he serves as a bridge between worlds, cultures, and generations.
HUMANITARIAN LEADERSHIP ON THE WORLD STAGE
Ali’s humanitarian career began long before his civic life.
In Tunisia, he served as a Community Mobilizer and later de facto leader within a refugee community of people from over 30 nationalities, coordinating unity, conflict resolution, and camp-wide cultural development under the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).
During this time, he worked directly with senior officials of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), delivering firsthand reports and insights to international leadership — including António Guterres, the current UN Secretary-General, who at that time served as the High Commissioner for Refugees.
Ali also shared his lived refugee experience with Angelina Jolie, Academy Award–winning actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, contributing to global conversations about protection, dignity, and human displacement. His testimony and leadership helped shape international understanding of the challenges faced by refugees in North Africa.
These early experiences solidified Ali’s global humanitarian perspective — built not from theory, but from frontline reality.
In the United States, he continued this work as an Interpreter for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Boise, Idaho, supporting refugee families as they rebuilt their lives, navigated systems, and integrated into American communities.
NATIONAL CIVIC IMPACT
Ali’s rise in public life began through reflective wisdom storytelling — a form of lived philosophy that reached millions across continents. His videos were shared by ministers, civic leaders, and global audiences, establishing him as one of the most influential Somali American communicators of his generation.
In 2025, he ran for Mayor of Hopkins, Minnesota, entering the race without a political machine — only discipline, integrity, and community trust. His campaign drew statewide attention and positioned him as a new independent force in Minnesota politics.
Ali has stepped onto political stages rarely accessed by young immigrants.
He spoke beside national leaders—including former Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Tim Scott—at the First-in-the-Nation Leadership Summit in New Hampshire, one of America’s most influential political gatherings.
A NATIONAL FOOTPRINT
His civic contributions span the country:
— Guided the New Hampshire GOP Chairman inside a mosque to teach cross-cultural political integration.
— Raised over $5,000 for a winning mayoral campaign and served on its transition team.
— Hosted World Refugee Day in Boise, Idaho.
— Organized youth programs in Louisville, Kentucky.
— Interpreted for 400+ multilingual workers in Nebraska.
— Recognized by Ramsey County for East African outreach.
— Invited to the Attorney General’s Office for youth empowerment initiatives.
— Competed among 900 applicants for Manhattan community leadership roles.
Everywhere he goes, Ali builds bridges — bringing dignity to political spaces, peace to divided spaces, and transformation to stagnant spaces.
